Regional Bal Bhavans and Their Objectives
Each Regional Bal Bhavan in different districts of Bihar strives to instill
a sense of respect for traditional art, culture, and heritage from an early
age among children. Kilkari has been dedicated to preserving and promoting
regional art and culture, particularly those that are at risk of
disappearing.
To further these objectives, Regional Bal Bhavans have been established
in nine districts, each focusing on the discovery, preservation, and
promotion of regional art forms and cultural traditions. These centers work
according to the unique needs and specialties of their respective regions.
Some of the key programs and initiatives include:
Gaya
The Gaya Regional Bal Bhavan focuses on research and conservation in the
fields of architecture, Magadh painting, and the Magahi language. It also
works on preserving Magahi folk songs and Buddhist philosophy, along with
meditation and the Pali Prakrit language. Special training is provided in
the vanishing classical singing style of Thumri.
Bhagalpur
In Bhagalpur, the Regional Bal Bhavan offers training in the region’s
renowned Manjusha painting and straw art. The center also focuses on Bihula
Vishhari painting and folk singing, along with research on the Champa River,
migratory birds in the Ang region, and the Jugnu Project. A radio program is
also part of the outreach.
Darbhanga
The Darbhanga Regional Bal Bhavan specializes in Mithila (Madhubani)
painting, Sikki art, and creative writing in Maithili and the Mithila
script. The center also delves into the works of renowned local writers such
as Gonu Jha, Harimohan Jha, and Salhesh, and provides training in Vidyapati
music.
Purnia
The Purnia Regional Bal Bhavan offers training in the popular classical
music style of Khayal singing. It also provides instruction in Purnia’s
distinctive jute and bamboo art to ensure these crafts do not fade away.
Additional programs include training in Jhijhiya and Karma folk dance, along
with research on Purnia’s mythological sites and workshops on textile
painting and medicinal gardening.
Muzaffarpur
Kilkari Muzaffarpur is developing a dense forest of native trees as a
research and experimental site for nature and science. The area is being
transformed into a hub for environmental conservation, with specific
projects on banana forests, litchi orchards, medicinal gardens, and Navgrah
and Panchvati gardens. Research is also conducted on the habitats of local
insects and birds.
Saran
The Saran Regional Bal Bhavan focuses on researching local freedom
fighters and notable figures such as Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India’s first
President, and cultural icons like Bhikhari Thakur. Efforts are being made
to preserve and promote Bhojpuri folk art, theatre, folk songs, and other
local traditions.
Saharsa
The Saharsa Regional Bal Bhavan is dedicated to reviving the
Panchgachiya classical music gharana and promoting Kosi art. It works to
preserve extinct art forms from the Kosi division, such as Pamaria and
Natuwa dance, as well as handicrafts made from Munj, a special grass found
in Kosi Kachher used to create baskets, branches, ornaments, and more.
Munger
The Munger Regional Bal Bhavan focuses on connecting children to the
local language, culture, and art of Munger. It includes training in mauli
thread handicrafts and research on the Angika dialect. The center also works
on the historical monuments of the Gupta period, including Munger hills and
Sitakund.
Patna
The Patna Regional Bal Bhavan conducts extensive research in various
fields, including art, culture, architecture, history, regional languages,
and science. The center focuses on the heritage and historical monuments of
Bihar, including the gardens and environmental research at Kilkari. Children
visit the Bihar Museum and engage in research about the artifacts,
connecting them with the historical significance of the places they explore.
Through these diverse and region-specific programs, the Regional Bal
Bhavans contribute to the preservation of Bihar’s rich cultural heritage
while providing children with the opportunity to explore and deepen their
understanding of local traditions.

कमिशनरी बाल भवन एवं उद्देश्य
बिहार के विभिन्न अंचलों में स्थित हर कमिशनरी बाल भवन की यह कोशिश है कि बच्चे
बचपन से ही अपनी कला- संस्कृति और धरोहर का सम्मान करना सीखें | विलुप्त होती
क्षेत्रीय कला और संस्कृति का संरक्षण और संवर्धन करने में किलकारी कई वर्षों
से प्रयासरत है |
इन सभी बिंदुओं को ध्यान में रखते हुए, 9 जिलों में कमिश्नरी बाल भवनों की
स्थापना की गयी है | इस माध्यम से क्षेत्रीय कला और खोई हुई संस्कृति की खोज और
परंपराओं का पुनर्निर्माण किया जा रहा है। सभी कमिश्नरी अपने क्षेत्र की
विशेषता और आवश्यकता के अनुसार कार्य कर रही है, उनमें से कुछ ख़ास कार्यक्रम
हैं-
● गया - गया कमिशनरी बाल भवन में स्थापत्य कला, मगध चित्रकला ,
स्थानीय भाषा मगही पर खोज और संरक्षण , मगही लोकगीत का संग्रहण । बौद्ध दर्शन,
ध्यान, पाली प्राकृत भाषा पर खोजबीन। विलुप्त होती शास्त्रीय गायन शैली, ठुमरी
गायन आदि पर खोज , प्रशिक्षण एवं संवर्धन।
● भागलपुर- भागलपुर की प्रसिद्द मञ्जूषा चित्रकला और पुआल आर्ट का
प्रशिक्षण कमिश्नरी बाल भवन में दिया जाता है | बिहुला विषहरी चित्रकला एवं
नाट्यकला लोक गायन | चंपा नदी नाला, जुगनू प्रोजेक्ट और माइग्रेटरी लोकल बर्ड्स
अंग क्षेत्र की जैवविविधता पर शोध कार्य। रेडियो कार्यक्रम।
● दरभंगा- मिथिला या मधुबनी चित्रकला पर विशेष प्रशिक्षण , सिक्की
आर्ट , मैथिली और मिथिलाक्षर में रचनात्मक लेखन | जिला के सुप्रसिद्ध लेखकों
जैसे गोनू झा , हरिमोहन झा और सलहेस की कहानियों और नाटकों पर कार्य |
विद्यापति संगीत प्रशिक्षण |
● पूर्णिया - पूर्णिया के प्रचलित शाश्त्रीय संगीत ख्याल गायन का
प्रशिक्षण| हस्तकला में पूर्णिया की खास जूट आर्ट और बैम्बू आर्ट का प्रशिक्षण
दिया जाता है, ताकि यह स्थानीय कला विलुप्त न हो | यहाँ के पारंपरिक झिझिया और
आदिवासी कर्मा लोक नृत्य पर भी विशेष प्रशिक्षण दिया जाता है। पूर्णिया के
पौराणिक जगहों का भ्रमण एवं रिसर्च। टेक्सटाइल पेंटिंग कार्य शाला। औषधि वाटिका
का निर्माण।
● मुज्ज़फरपुर - किलकारी मुजफ्फरपुर में स्वत: उगे हुए विभिन्न
प्रकार के पेड़ एक घने जंगल के रूप में है। इसे प्रकृति और विज्ञान की दृष्टि
से एक अनुसंधान व प्रयोग स्थल के रूप में विकसित किया जा रहा है। कदली वन, लीची
बगान , औषधि उपवन, नवग्रह वाटिका एवं पंचवटी का निर्माण , पर्यावरण संरक्षण पर
विशेष रूप से कार्य किया जा सकता है। कीड़े मकोड़े एवं पक्षियों के आवास पर
खोज-बीन।
● सारण - स्थानीय स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों और विशेष व्यक्तियों पर खोज
कार्य जैसे भारत के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति डॉ राजेंद्र प्रसाद, भिखारी ठाकुर जैसे
महान विभूतियों पर खोजबीन। भोजपुरी के लोक कलाकार , रंगमंच,लोकगीत तथा को
संरक्षित कर जीवंत रखने के लिए स्थानीय लोक कला एवं संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देना ।
● सहरसा- बिहार के पंचगछिया शास्त्रीय संगीत घराने को पुनर्जीवित
करने का कार्य । कोसी आर्ट का संरक्षण एवं संवर्धन। कोसी प्रमंडल की विलुप्त
होती कला संस्कृति जैसे - पमरिया, नटुआ नाच, हस्तकला में कोसी कछेर में उगने
वाले एक खास घास कास से मूंज निकाल कर , उससे डाली, बास्केट , आभूषण इत्यादि का
निर्माण।
● मुंगेर- मुंगेर की स्थानीय भाषा, संस्कृति एवं कला के प्रति
बच्चों के जुड़ाव हेतु कार्यक्रम। मौली धागा से हस्तकला। अंगिका बोली पर कार्य।
गुप्तकाल की ऐतिहासिक स्मारकों पर खोजबीन। मुंगेर की पहाड़ियों , सीताकुंड पर
खोज कार्य। मुंगेर की ऐतिहासिकता पर खोजबीन।
● पटना - बिहार की कला संस्कृति, स्थापत्य कला , ऐतिहासिकता
क्षेत्रीय भाषाएं एवं विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में शोधकार्य। बिहार की विरासत एवं
ऐतिहासिक स्मारकों पर खोज कार्य। किलकारी के उद्यान एवं पर्यावरण, वहां के
वाशिंदे पक्षियों की खोजबीन। बिहार म्यूजियम में भ्रमण कर वहां की चीजों देखकर
उस स्थान पर भ्रमण एवं खोजबीन ।
